1911 MAP OF SINGAPORE
Hi everyone!
I found a map of Singapore in 1911 online!
Thought it would be cool to share! Compared to the modern map today!
I'm not too sure whether I'm reading the map right though, it seems a different size compared to today's map. Know why??
The picture can be found in the link below

Re: 1911 MAP OF SINGAPORE
Thanks for sharing, Student1!
I think one main factor, other than improved cartography techniques/satellite imaging that may have given us a slightly "different" picture from the past, is land reclamation.
This image shows some of the areas that Singapore has physically "grown" over the past few years.

I believe the HDB flats at Marine Parade are all sitting on reclaimed land. If you stand at Parkway Parade taxi stand and look across the road, you can see some old pre-war bungalows - before reclamation, these bungalows used to be a very short walk to the beach.

Re: 1911 MAP OF SINGAPORE
I found another map that back dates to 1822! Although not a map marking Singapore as a country, but it's the first map to mark Singapore's city developments.
Here is a link to it: http://singapurastories.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Kampung-Compound.jpg
This town plan sets aside the North Bank for government purposes and the South Bank for commercial activities. Different nationalities were also kept to their respective enclaves in a plan with details such as house size, street width and type of materials used for construction.
