Buildings from the past
It seems like there are some significant buildings from the times before 1965. For instance the Tiong Bahru Air Raid Shelter.
This shelter is located at Blk 78 on Guan Chuan Street, according to a press report dated 28 June 1939. It is a basement floor which in usual days is used as a covered playing ground for children, but when in times of emergency, it could readily be converted into an effective air raid shelter. Blk 78 is a significant because it is the only public housing built by the Singapore Improvement Trust to have an air raid shelter as part of its design. Furthermore it is the last remaining pre-war civilian air raid shelter still in existence today.

Re: Buildings from the past
Hey jxkc,
I was trying to look for other buildings from the past and I chanced upon this picture!
This is the Sultan Mosque at North Bridge Road and this is how it looks like today:
Interesting to see how despite the many changes Singapore has seen, some things still remain (:

Hi Everyone!
The national museum of Singapore opened it's door in 1849.
It's quite interesting to see that the architecture hasn't changed too much

There's more!
Capitol building is something that many old folks talk about.
You hear of stories of them talking about old movies and dating there last time
It has changed but the building name and location has stayed the same

Re: Buildings from the past
This cathay building as seen in 1945!
Compared to now!
The old building is actually preserved in the new one in terms of architecture. However, there has been an update in the materials used.
